Congratulations to Dr Edith Bouton!!

Congratulations to Dr Edith Bouton, who wrote an excellent dissertation on new methods for measuring academically productive dialogue in classrooms! This year she presented parts of her dissertation at ICLS 2023 (for which she recieved a best student paper nomination!) , and at the annual School of Ed conference 

 

Dina Jonas and Meirav Levin win prestigious scholarships

Very proud and happy to announce that PhD students Meirav Levin and Dina Jonas are the new  recipients of the prestigeous, 3-year long Zalman Aran scholarship for outstanding PhD students awarded by the Ministry of Education Chief Scientist's office. Meirav's PhD focuses on teacher learning of and about academically productive clasroom dialogue. Dina's PhD focused on low achieving children in elementary school classroom discussion activities.

Keynote presentation on Conceptual Change in and through Social Interaction cancelled

Unfortunately, I will not be able to give my keynote presentation on Conceptual change and social interaction at the 12th International European Association for Research on Learning & Instruction (EARLI) Conference on Conceptual Change (SIG3). The entire conference which was planned for 24-26/6/2020 in Zwolle, Netherlands, has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemia travel and meeting restrictions.

Presentation in Santiago de Chile

On January 14 2020, I presented our work on "Productive pedagogical discourse for teacher learning in professional learning communities" in a keynote talk at the I Congreso Internacional de Argumentación, Aprendizaje y Educación, at the Universidad Alberto Hurtado in Santiago de Chile. The 2-day conference was organized by Prof. Antonia Larrain, and included presentations on argumentation, diaogue and learning from Brasil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, the UK and Israel.
